ELD - English Language Development

English Language Development (ELD) celebrates the gift and skills of multilingual students.  It recognizes the importance of students’ keeping the family’s home language while giving English support at school in academic language.  Once a year we host a North Star assembly to share the gift of multilingualism with our school community.  Students can participate in a collaborative reading program after school.  Older students are paired with younger ones to read and discuss books twice a week.  Parents are invited to a pizza party in December to recognize the collaboration between students and a pinata party in the spring to celebrate the students’ perseverance of working together after school.
